Like M. juniperina but stem nodes scarcely swollen, sometimes with lax axil-lary fascicles at flowering time; leaves flat, ± linear, rigid but scarcely spinose, spreading widely; inflorescence contracted, pedicels usually 5-10 mm, always erect; sepals 4•5-5•5 mm. Fl. 6-7. Rocky mountain slopes, 1800-2750 m. Type: [Caucasia] ditionis Talysch, C. A. Meyer (holo. LE, photo. E!). A9 Kars: nr. Sarikamiş (Grossheim 3: map 227).
