Like M. rimarum but up to 12 cm, glabrous or sparsely glandular-pubescent; leaves setaceous, ± terete to semicircular in section, 1-3-veined, the lateral veins much less prominent than the midvein, and adjacent to it; sepals lanceolate to ovate. 1. Petals oblanceolate; inflorescence never a dense umbellate cluster, pedicels 8-30 mm 2. Flowering stems 1-2 cm, bearing l(-2) flowers; sepals lanceolate; seeds fimbriate on the dorsal ridge subsp. fimbriata 2. Flowering stems 4-11 cm, bearing (l-)3-6 flowers; sepals ovate-lanceolate; seeds obscurely tuberculate throughout subsp. pontica 1. Petals obovate 3.
