S. capitellata Boiss., Diagn. ser. 1(1): 25 (1843). Figure 4, p. 187. Perennial, ± caespitose herb, 10-30 cm, with short retrorse indumentum below, glabrous above. Basal leaves oblanceolate to linear, up to 6 mm. Cauline leaves smaller, often much reduced and filiform. Inflorescence capitate, the heads c. 15 mm in diameter. Calyx glabrous 5-6.5 mm. Petals whitish, entire or slightly emarginate, the claws glabrous. Anthophore 1.5-2 mm. Capsule included in the calyx. Fl. 5-7. Rocks and open grassland, 1000-2500 m.
