S. muradica Schischk. in Mon. Jard. Bot. Tiflis 50:27 (1920). Figure 4, p. 187. Map 12, p. 207. Perennial. Stems erect, retrorsely puberulent, up to 40 cm. Sterile shoots elongate, bearing very narrowly oblanceolate leaves with sterile shoots in their axils. Cauline leaves very narrowly elliptic to very narrowly oblanceolate, puberulent, with sterile shoots. Inflorescence an elongate panicle with the lateral cymuies very congested and pseudoverticellate. Calyx up to 5(-6) mm, glabrous or very slightly papillose. Petals greenish-white, the lamina bifid for less than 1/2 its length into linear lobes. Anthophore very short. Capsule ovoid, included. Fl. 6. Slopes and fields, 1200-1550 m. Type: [Turkey B8 Muş] Muschochkii Obl., Melazgert, 19 v 1916, Schischkin (holo. LE!). B5 Niğde: between Taşpinar & Hasan Da., D. 18876! C2 Antalya: Elmali, Bourgeau 52! Endemic; Ir.-Tur. element. Very similar to S. spergulifolia, but in the nature of the inflorescence coming close to S. otites. Further investigation may show that the plants included here are sex forms of one of the other species of the Section. A few specimens (e.g. B5 Kayseri: between Kayseri and Pinarbaşi, Zohary & Plitmann 1763-10 and B6 Sivas: about 13 km N of Sivas, 1520 m, M. & D. Zohary 202/26) are intermediate to S.. cappadocica in their longer, slightly hairy calyces and trigonous capsules. |
