S. pungens Boiss., Diagn. ser. 1(1):1: 32 (1843). Figure 5, p. 189. Caespitose perennial. Stems erect, 8-25 cm, puberulous to tomentose, sometimes glandular above. Leaves linear, pointed, the lower (10-)20-35 x 1 mm, all greyish-puberulous, 1-nerved. Inflorescence ± dichasial, 3- or more-flowered. Calyx 12-15 mm, a little inflated in fruit, puberulous to pilose, sometimes glandular. Anthophore 5-8.5 mm, puberulous. Capsule ovoid, completely included in the calyx. Fl. 6-7.
