Stellaria kotschyana FENZL |
Stellaria L. |
S. kotschyana Fenzl in Boiss., Fl. Or. 1: 705 (1867). Annual and perennial herbs, erect, 15-50 cm. Stems 4-angled with many branches angled upwards, rather stiff. Lower leaves usually deciduous, leaving persisting 'stipular' sheaths. Upper leaves lanceolate, 10-23 x 3-6 mm, spreading, often refiexed later. Each flowering stem with at least 50 flowers on erect pedicels. Sepals (2-)3-5 mm. Petals at most equalling the sepals. Styles 2. Capsule teeth 4. Seeds 1-2. Fl. 6-8. Rocky places, slopes, 1900-3200 m. Many syntypes from Persia. B7 Tunceli: Munzur Da, above Ovacik, 2400 m, D. 31203! B9 Bitlis: Pelli Da. above Pelli, 2800 m, D. 22466! Van: Kavuşşahap Da. nr. Şatak, 2600 m, D. 23031! C10 Hakkari: Cilo Tepe, 3200 m, D. 24069! N. Iraq, N. & W. Iran. Differs from other Turkish Stellaria species in having only 2 styles. One of the 2 specimens on the Tunceli sheet is puberulous; ail the rest of the Orient material seen is glabrous, and presumably falls under Born-müller's var. glabra. Schischkin, in Ber. Tomsk. Staats-Univ. 80: 442 (1929), described var. intermedia based on a plant from Bitlis (which cannot now be found). His description indicates that this plant was indeed intermediate between var. kotschyana (var. typica Bornmüller: tota planta minute et crispule pubescens) and the glabrous var. glabra. |
