S. tenellum Bieb., Fl. Taur.-Cauc. 3:315 (1819). Ic: Grossh., Fl. Kavk. 4: t. 31 (1951). Ascending caespitose glabrous perennial, 4-10 cm. Leaves linear to oblong, 3-8 mm, terete, blunt, sessile, on sterile shoots densely imbricate, on flowering stems more lax and sometimes absent below the inflorescences. Inflorescence dense, cymose, 4-7-fiowered. Flowers 5-merous, pedicellate; sepals c. 3 mm; petals white tinged with red, to deep pink, 3-4.5 mm; stamens 10; follicles erect, glabrous with sessile glands. Fl. 6-8.
