Lower leaves 1-2-pinnatisect, segments linear; upper leaves usually simple, linear. Involucral bracts 6-8, linear, longer or shorter than flowers. Capitula 1-2•3 cm diam., radiant; flowers white or cream, sometimes flushed mauve. Fruiting head spherical. Involucel 2-2•5 mm, pilose; pits oblong, 1 mm long; ribs between pits not sulcate; corona 1-1•5 mm with 20-26 excurrent nerves. Calyx very shortly stipitate; setae 4•5-6 mm. Fl. 5-9{-10).
