C. orientalis Miller, Gard. Dict. ed. 8:844 (1768). Map. 97, p. 539. Procumbent perennial herb with a woody base. Stems 6-40 cm. Leaves glau- cous, pinnate with 3-5 pairs of ± cuneate leaflets. Umbels 3-9-fiowered; bracts c. 0.5 mm, fused into a ring. Flowers 12-18 mm, yellow, the petal claws c. as long as the sepals. Lomenta 2.0-4.5 cm x c. 2 mm, arcuate, with 2-9(-l 1) articulations. Fl. 4-7. 1. Stipules 4-5 mm, cuneate to obovate var. orientalis 1. Stipules 7-12 mm, suborbicular var. balansae var. orientalis. Ic: Bot. Mag. 53: t. 2646 (1826). Syn: C. cappadocica Willd., Sp.
