N. Persia. Recognised by the tall, usually erect habit/large leaflets and large fruits. Although this species has been recorded from the provinces of Gümüşane, Bingöl (Širjaev, op. cit. 150, 1925), Kars, Erzurum and Çoruh (Grossh., F1. Kavk. 5, map 448, 1952), these records apparently refer to other species such as O. transcaucasica Grossh. and O. vicüfolia Scop. O. major is closely related to O. viciifolia but has larger toothed fruits and longer corollas.
