Balkans (?). Although O. oxyodonta can generally be recognised by its relatively small corollas and elongated fruiting pedicels, there is no doubt that it is a very close ally of O. armena; several specimens are of an intermediate nature. In Turkey, O. oxyodonta grows within a wide altitudinal range and in a great variety of habitats. O. bithynica Širj. was based on the solitary character of the" standard being 2 mm shorter than the keel. Although the type has not been studied, a Reese specimen (in Herb. Hub.-Mor.) from Bursa, determined as O. bithynica, has been examined. It agrees in all respects with the original description but within the same inflorescence there are both flowers with the standard/keel proportions as given by Širjaev and others in which the standard is the same length as the keel. Most records of O. oxyodonta from E. Turkey (e.g. Grossheim 5, map 451, 1952) probably refer to O. hajastana Grossh.
European specimens assigned to O. oxyodonta species differ in the shorter, ovate, and fewer-flowered inflorescences, and may represent a separate taxon.
