Erect or ascending perennial, 30-70 cm. Stipules ovate-oblong, free portion gradually tapering into a subula. Leaflets of the lower leaves 3-4 cm, ovate to elliptic, retuse, those of the upper leaves elliptic to lanceolate. Inflorescence ovoid, 1.5-2 cm wide, sessile. Calyx cylindrical-camDanulate, 10-nerved, villous, closed by a 2-lipped callosity, the teeth unequal, lanceolate-subulate, blunt. Corolla cream, 20-25 mm, c. 2 x as long as the calyx. Fl. 5-7. Meadows, woods and swampy soil, 1670-2600 m.

Caucasia, W. Iran. From the description it appears that T. parantzemae Azn., described from B9 Van: Baghlar, Tchitouny 51, is no more than a large-flowered form of T. trichocephalum.
