Glabrescent annual, 20-90 cm, climbing-erect. Leaflets (4-)5-S-paired, (8-)10-
35 x(2-)3-12 mm, linear to oblong or elliptic, truncate to emarginate; stipules minute, semi-sagittate to ovate; tendrils branched. Peduncle shorter than the 1-2-flowers. Flowers (16-)17-20(-25) mm, yellowish. Calyx 7-12 mm, gibbous, with an oblique mouth, glabrous to sparingly pilose; teeth as long as or shorter than tube, unequal, subulate. Standard with limb slightly shorter than claw, dark-veined. Legume 21-40x8-12 mm, oblong-linear, subcompressed, shortly beaked, glabrous. Seeds (2-)3-6, hilum 1/8-1/7 of perimeter. 2n = 12. Fl. 4-6. Cultivated and fallow fields, irrigated land, 1100-2440 m.

Iran, N. Iraq, Caucasia, C. Asia. Ir.-Tur. element. V. hyrcanica comprises two extreme forms: specimens with calyx teeth c. as long as tube, and specimens with calyx teeth shorter than tube. Intermediates with V. noeana have been found in S.E. Anatolia and N. Iraq.
