Lower leaves palmatifid to ½-?, 2-5 cm diam.; segments cuneate, obtusely lobulate; upper leaves opposite, shortly petiolate. Pedicels usually glandular-pubescent with darkly capitate hairs, spreading or deflexed in fruit. Sepals 3.5-5 mm; awn 0.2-0.5 mm. Petals 5-9 mm, entire, pink or lilac. Stamens 10. Mericarps patently pubescent, not wrinkled. Seeds foveolate. Fl. 3-5. Gullies, banks, rocky and waste places, s. 1.-1700 m. Described from Europe (lecto. Hb. Linn. 858/83!). Eurasia (except N), N. Africa. Specimens from the provinces of Gaziantep (Balls 2185) and Maraş (D. 27840) lack the dark glandular hairs on the pedicels characteristic of typical G. rotundifolium. Similar plants (resembling G. molle in pedicel indumentum) have been seen from N. Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan, often in areas where the typical form of the species also occurs. |
