D. multicaule Bentham in Ann. Sci. Nat. ser. 2, 6:47 (1836). Stems numerous, arising from a thick branched woody stock, densely puberulent, simple or branched, 11-32 cm. Heterophyllous; lowest cauline leaves petiolate, lamina ovate, crenate, to 12 x 9 mm, marcescent; median linear-oblong, 15-20(-35) x 3-7 mm, entire, tapering at base to short petiole; intermediate leaves transitional. Flowers in 2-4-flowered verticillasters forming a lax oblong terminal inflorescence. Bracteoles entire, or aristate-dentate, apex mucronate to aristate. Calyx 15-17 mm, upper lip with 3 shallow teeth. Corolla white, cream or straw-coloured, 23-31 mm, pubescent outside. 1. Bracteoles entire var. multicaule 1.
