Related to N. racemosa and N. transcaucasica but differing in the clearly pedunculate, laxly flowered cymes and in having a less dense, non-tomentose indumentum on stem and leaves. Fl. 8-9. Steep rocky slopes and stream margins, Quercus scrub, 1830-3000 m. Type: [Turkey B8 Muş] in rupestribus praeruptis vallis Teng, prov. Musch Armeniae Turcicae, 1830 m, Kotschy 510a (holo. G, iso. W!). E. Anatolia. B8 Erzurum: c. 14 km E. of Varto, 2000 m, Sorger 78-79-13! B9 Bitlis: d. Kotum, Karz Da. above Kamer, 2300 m, D. 24598! Van: Artos Da. above Gevaş, N. slopes, 3000 m, McNeill 750!W. Iran. Ir.-Tur. element. Of doubtful status; known only from a few gatherings. The type, with shorter corollas, is male-sterile. |
