S. iberica Bieb., Fl. Taur.-Cauc. 2:51 (1808). Suffrutescent perennial, 20-60 cm, erect or procumbent, densely or sparsely adpressed-pilose. Lower and median cauline leaves subsessile to sessile, linear-oblong to oblanceolate, 1.5-5.5 x 0.4-1.2 cm, margin crenate to faintly crenate-serrate, rarely entire, base attenuate. Floral leaves subsessile to sessile, oblong-lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate, gradually becoming ovate-lanceolate above,uppermost as long as or shorter than verticillasters, apex subacute, rarely softly spinescent. Verticillasters remote below, few ± approximate above, 1-5 cm distant, (2-)4-8-flowered. Bracteoles few, small, setaceous, 1-3 mm. Pedicels short, 0.5-1 mm, not conspicuously elongating in fruit. Calyx sub-bilabiate, subcampanulate to tubular, 5-10 mm, sparsely or densely pilose; teeth subequal, erect to subrecurved, triangular-lanceolate, c. 1/2 x tube, mucronate at tip, mucro 0.2-1 mm. Corolla purplish-pink to creamy white with pink markings, 14-18 mm, tube subexserted. Stamens slightly exserted from corolla tube. Nutlets obovoid, 2.2.x 1.8 mm, trigonal with faint basal margins. Fl. 5-8. Sloping limestone or serpentine rocks and screes, streams and riversides, steppes and igneous banks, 800-2400 m. 1.
