Transcaucasia, N. Iran & Khorassan. Ir.-Tur. element. This rather distinctive subspecies differs from the others in its discolorous leaves, and usually entire bracts which (except the lowest pair) are equal to or shorter than the flowers; T. ixodes Bornm. is only a glandular variant. It is possible to see many intermediate forms between this subspecies and subspp. tauricolum, chamaedrys and trapezunticum, mainly in contact areas; they are listed at the end of the species.
