A.opacum Rech. fil. in Ark. Bot.n.s. l(5):302, t. 1 (1949). Map 15. Bulb ovoid, 1 cm diam.; outer tunics brown, inner tunics white, shiny,
membranous. Stem 16-23 cm, erect, ±flexuous, finely sulcate-striate, at first green, then yellowish. Leaves filiform, less than 1 mm broad, cylindrical, often as long as stem, glaucous. Valves of spathe scarcely dilated at base, ±unequal, 1.4-4 cm , herbaceous, often 2 x as long as umbel. Umbel 1.5-3.5 cm diam., many-flowered; pedicels unequal. Perianth campanulate; segments pale yellow with a non-coloured midvein, ± subpruinose, opaque, never shiny, c. 4 mm, ovate-elliptic, acute at apex. Filaments pale yellowish, not exserted or scarcely longer than perianth segments. Latakia. E. Medit. element. Very closely related to A. chloranthurn and similar in its geographical distribution. According to Rechinger (loc. cit., i 949) it differs from A. chloranthum mainly in its opaque, subpruinose (not translucent and shiny) perianth segments.
