Bulbs with dark brown tunics, new bulb arising inside old, with several dark-tunicated bulblets c. 1 mm. Basal leaf 1, narrowly lanceolate, 7-15 x0.2-0.4 cm, fiat, glabrous, longer than inflorescence. Inflorescence 4-16 cm, glabrous; branching usually corymbose from above lowest bract, but on large specimens with cauline leaf subtending a 1-flowered branch. Cauline leaf 1, lanceolate, 2.5-8 x 0.3-1 cm, amplexicaui, equal to or shorter than pedicels, glabrous or with scattered crisped hairs; bracts and bracteoles lanceolate to lisear. Flowers 1-7, conical or rather narrow at base. Pedicels nodding in bud, 2-.56 cm, not elongating in fruit, glabrous. Perianth segments greenish or reddish outside, yellow inside, 8-15 x 2-6 mm, obtuse. Capsule 3-7 x 4 mm, obovate. Fl. 5-8. Bare soil and turf by snow patches, shady rocks, 1800-3660 m.
