Europe, Caucasia, Iran, Iraq; Syria? The Turkish and Middle Eastern plants of this species were distinguished (as G. anisanthos C. Koch and as subsp. eu-fistulosa Pascher) from the European, but the differences between plants from the two areas are negligible. Records from Syria and Iraq may belong to G. luteoides.
