Bulbs solitary or in small groups; tunics forming a fibrous neck 8-20 mm, without recurved thickened roots. Whole plant glabrous. Basal leaf 1, linear, 1-1.5 mm broad. Inflorescence 2-5 cm, branching at middle. Cauline leaf 1, not overtopping flowers, filiform; bracts 1 per flower, bracteole I on terminal pedicel. Flowers 1-2. Pedicels not greatly elongating in fruit. Perianth segments bright yellow, reddish outside, 8-15 mm, iaaer narrowly diamond-shaped, outer narrowly ovate. Capsule not seen. Fl. 6-8. Damp mossy places, usually by late snow patches, 2500-3500 m.
