M. kurdica Bomm. in BulL Herb. Boiss. 7:79 (1899). Syn: Colchicum kurdicum (Bomm.) Stef., Monogr. Colchicum 42 (1926)! Corm oblong-ovoid, 2-4 x 1.5-2 cm; outer tunics mid-brown, membranous with a short neck 1-3 cm; innermost tunic pale brown. Leaves 3, lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate, 4-10(-12) x 1.8-3 cm at anthesis, to 17 x 3 cm at maturity, acute, greyish-green, glabrous. Flowers l(-2), pale to deep purple. Limb of perianth segments oblanceolate to narrowly oblanceolate, 30-35 x (5-)10 mm, acute, base auriculate. Filaments to 8(-9) mm; anthers yellow, 3-4 x 1 mm. Capsule ellipsoid, 20-30 mm.
