Scape 7-12 cm, glabrous. Leaves 3-7, exceeding scape, very narrowly linear to filiform, with a white line on upper surface(?), erect. Raceme at first ovate, later corymbose, with 4-7 flowers, pedicels erect at an thesis. Perianth segments white inside, white with a green fascia outside, 7-10(-l 1) mm. Fruiting pedicels arcuate-spreading, lowermost 20-40 mm. Capsule unwinged. 2n=18. Fl. 4-7, Hills, steppe, forests, s.l.-2300 m.

Endemic. E. Medit. element. Very similar to O. orthophyllum; starved specimens of the latter are very difficult to distinguish from O. alpigenum. The relationships of O. alpigenum with the non-Turkish O. iraqense Feinbrun and O. trichophyllum Boiss. require elucidation.
