S. persica Hausskn. in Mitt. Thiir. Bot. Ver., N.F. 10:44 (1897). Ic: Bot. Mag. 176: n.s, t. 486 (1966). Bulb to 3 cm diam., tunics fuscous-brown, scales stained dark violet-purple. Leaves 3-5, 29-48 cm x 7-16 mm, concave, gradually acute, bases convolute forming a tube. Scapes 1-3, to 47 cm. Raceme 18-50-flowered, becoming elongate and lax in fruit; pedicels 1-2.5 cm, suberect at first, becoming patent and finally ± deflexed, longer than perianth segments, becoming thick and rigid in fruit. Bracts 2-7 mm, irregularly laciniate, truncate or with 2 acuminate lobes above, with truncate lobes below or with spurs. Perianth segments blue, 7-8 x 1.5-3 mm, spreading. Ovary subglobose, 2-3 mm diam. Style 3.5-5 mm.Seeds ovoid, dark brown, exarillate. 2n=8. Fl 4-5. Subalpine water meadows, 500-1450 m.
