L. pycnophyllum Boiss. & Heldr. in Boiss., Diagn. ser. 2(1): 98 (1853). subsp. kurdicum Davis in Notes R.B.G. Edinb. 22: 138 (1957). Perennial, stems typically prostrate, 6-12 cm, springing from a stout woody stock, densely leafy, 1-5-fiowered. Median leaves oblong-linear, obtuse, thick, obscurely 1-nerved, glaucous, 5-7 x 1-1.5 mm, lower ones smaller and imbricate. Pedicels erect in fruit. Sepals 3-5 mm, scarcely nerved, outer oblong and often subacute, inner broadly elliptical, obtuse. Petals overlapping nearly to the top, 11-14 mm, blue. Stigmas oblong-capitate. Capsule 5-6 mm.
