E. frigidum Hausskn. in Öst. Bot. Zeitschr. 29:51 (1879). Syn: E. origani-folium sensu Boiss., Fl. Or. 2:750(1872) pro parte, non Lam. (1786). Ic: Leéveille, Ic. Epil. t. 109 (1910). Erect little branched rhizomatous perennial; stems 5-40 cm; crisped-hairy above, glabrescent below, with 2 raised lines arising from the decurrent petiole bases. Leaves ovate to narrowly ovate-lanceolate, 1-3.5 x 0.7-1.5 cm, glabrous or with hairs restricted to the margins and veins, obscurely serrulate, petioles 0.5-2 mm. Inflorescence nodding before anthesis, sparsely crisped-hairy or glandular-pilose. Flowers whitish or pale pink; petals 4.5-6(-8) mm; stigmas shortly clavate. Capsule 3-3.5 cm; seeds obovoid, c. 1 mm, smooth. Fl. 7-8. Flushes, stream sides, etc., 1500-2800 m. Lectotype: [W. Iran] Kuh Daena, nr. Shiraz, Kotschy 638 (W! BM! G! K! JE!
