Leaf sheaths pubescent. Leaf blades 3-12 cm x 1.5-4 mm, pubescent. Panicle 3-8 x 1-4 cm, erect, open, branches and pedicels longer than spikelets (excl. awns), ascending, sometimes flexuous, slender. Spikelets 4-7 mm, ovate-lanceolate, pubescent, florets at first imbri-cate, later becoming divaricate. Glumes subequal, lanceolate, acuminate, 4-5 mm. Lemma 4-4.5 mm, elliptic-lanceolate; awn 12-19 mm, very slender. Palea equalling lemma. Anthers 0.5 mm. Caryopsis filling the floret. Fl. 6-7. Alt. to 2900 m. Type: [USSR, Kirghiz] in der Wüste Karakum bei Kuk-Kabak zwischen Tschi (Lasiagrostis splendens), 19 v 1842, A. Lehmann (holo. LE, iso. K!). E. Anatolia; rare.
