Leaf blades to 3 mm broad, scabrid, sparsely pilose. Spike to 3.5 cm (excl. awns). Glumes c. 13 mm, with short awn. Lemma of fertile floret to 7 mm, with awn to 6 mm. Fl. 4-5. Sandy, calcareous soils, arid steppe, 400-600 m. Type: [Egypt] â Alexandrie dans les champs d'orge, entre le lac Mareotis et la mer, iii 1800, Delile (holo. MPU). S. Anatolia.
