P. pulchellum Lois, in Mem. Soc. Linn. Paris 6: 441 (1827). Erect or ascending annual herbs, 20-50 cm. Stems slender, less than 2.5 mm thick, usually with whitish striae. Leaves linear-oblong or narrowly elliptic, 10-45 x 3-8 mm, much longer than the bracts. Flowers in lax terminal inflorescences, c. 2 mm, the perianth segments not closing around apex of fruit.
