R. angustifolius Campd., Mon. Rumex 63, 73, t. 1 f. 2 (1819). Perennial. Stems erect, 10-30 cm. Leaves linear-oblanceolate to very narrowly elliptic, all petiolate. Fruiting pedicels thickened, shorter than or equalling the perianth segments, articulate at or about the middle. Fruitng perianth segments ± cordate, 10-14 x 8-25 mm, all tuberculate. Nut brown, 6-8.5 x 4-5 mm. Two subspecies may be recognised in Turkey: 1. Fruiting perianth segments 8-14 mm broad; inflorescence ± simple subsp. angustifolius 1. Fruiting perianth segments 17-25 mm broad; inflorescence branched subsp. macranthus subsp. macranthus (Boiss.) Rech. in Feddes Rep. 33: 353 (1934). Figure 7, p. 283.
