R. aucheri Boiss. in Ann. Sci. Nat. 16: 351 (1841). Syn: R. eriocarpus Boiss. I.c. (1841). Figure 6, p. 175. Perennial, 18-30 cm, glabrescent or adpressed-pilose. Root tubers slenderly cylindrical, 1-2 cm. Stems 2-13-flowered, peduncles slender. Radical leaves trisect, segments petiolate, deeply dissected into linear or lanceolate laciniae. Sepals spreading. Petals 10-13 mm. Fruiting head ovate-orbicular, c. 8 mm. Achenes obtusely triangular, compressed, 2.5 mm, pilose, contracted into a slender, spreading, uncinate, 2.5 mm beak. Fl. 6. Alpine, by melting snow. Type: [Iran] Isfahan, Aucher 4006 (BM!). Upper Euphrates and Kurdistan. B7 Malatya: nr. Ak. Da., Aucher 20 (type of R. eriocarpa)! C9 Bitlis: Kambos Da. above Hurmuz, 2300 m, D. 23465! N., N.W. & W. Iran. R. elbrusensis Boiss. (from N. Iran) may well be con-specific. |
