America. A very variable species, especially in the density of indumentum. Many hybrids have been recorded in Europe between this and other species of sections Argenteae and Rectae. According to Fl. Europaea 2, P. inclinata is intermediate between these two sections and may represent another apomictic hybrid complex. The specimen from B9 Van (cited above) is somewhat intermediate between this species and P. recta 'group C'.
