Dwarf pubescent shrub with thick woody branches adpressed to rock. Leaves pinnate; leaflets 5(-7), obovate to oblong, 5-15 mm, 4-8-toothed at apex, greyish-green. Flowers terminal, solitary or paired. Epicalyx segments linear-lanceolate, sepals ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, 5-7 mm. Petals white, obovate, ± unguiculate, c. 5 mm, slightly shorter than sepals. Achenes pubescent; style sub-basal, filiform, longer than achene. Fl. 6-7. On vertical limestone clijfs, 1700-2450 m.

E. Anatolia. B7 Tunceli: foot of Munzur Da. above Ovacik, 1700 m, D. 22710! B9 Siirt: Mukuş-Tal, 8 km N. von Mukuş, 1900 m, Frödin 1939: 224 (type of P. plagiophylla). B9 Van: 29 km N. of Çatak, 1700 m, D. 23159! C9 Hakkari: Cilo Da. between Cilo Y. and Diz De., 2450 m, D. 24273!
N. & W. Iran. Ir.-Tur. element. A very distinctive species with no close relatives. P. plagiophylla is described as differing from P. lignosa in its larger and more toothed leaflets and larger flowers. However, as there is a complete gradation between the two extremes, the species appears to be not worthy of recognition.
Subgen. Schystophyllidium Juz. Herbs with a woody base. Leaves pinnate. Petals yellow. Receptacle hairy. Achenes pubescent when young, becoming glabrous at maturity; style sub-basal, fusiform. (3. P. bifurca).
