Low, caespitose perennial, drying greenish or blackening, with rootstock and sometimes woody stem bases. Stems numerous, 5-15(-25) cm, thin, erect to ascending, branched from base, ± puberulent; internodes ± equal, 0.5-1.5 cm or upper elongate to 6.5 cm. Leaves in whorls of 4-6, ± divaricate, sub-petiolate, 4-10(-19)x 1.5-2.5(-5) mm, oblanceolate to oblanceolate-oblong, cuspidate, with ± hyaline apex, glabrous or very sparingly hairy above, margins often ciliolate, with prominent vein beneath. Thyrses reduced, corym-biform, glabrous, cymes subfasciculate. Lowest bracts leaf-like, glabrous, upper reduced or absent. Pedicels 1.5-2 mm, lengthening to 4 mm. Corolla white, 2-3 mm diam., ± rotate; tube c. 0.2-0.3 mm, lobes ovate, shortly apiculate to obtusish, 1.25-1.5 mm. Anthers lenticular to broadly ellipsoid, 0.2-0.3 mm, yellowish to blackish. Mericarps subglobose, ± solitary, 1-1.2 mm diam., ± smooth, glabrous. Fl. 5-6. Limestone cliffs, c. 1750 m.
